_____

√ Bola Ahmed Tinubu
As the incumbent President since 2023, Tinubu’s performance will heavily influence his party’s standing in 2027. His administration’s successes or failures in areas like economic growth, security, and anti-corruption efforts will shape the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) chances. Tinubu’s political acumen and extensive network are assets, but public perception of his tenure will be crucial.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

√ Peter Obi
Former Governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate under the Labour Party (LP), Obi garnered significant support, especially among the youth, through his “Obidient” movement. His reputation for prudence and infrastructure development in Anambra State bolsters his appeal. However, the LP’s limited national structure could hinder his 2027 prospects unless expanded.

Peter Obi

√ Atiku Abubakar
A seasoned politician and former Vice President, Atiku has been a recurring presidential contender. His extensive political network and experience are strengths. However, internal divisions within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and past electoral defeats may challenge his 2027 ambitions. He may reap advantage of the new gang up brewing in the SDP.

Atiku Abubakar

√ Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso
Ex-Governor of Kano State and founder of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Kwankwaso’s influence is pronounced in the North, particularly through his “Kwankwasiyya” movement. His focus on education and infrastructure has earned him regional support. Yet, the NNPP’s limited reach beyond the North, Kano State to be precise could be a strategic obstacle in a national election.

Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso

√ Major Hamza Al-Mustapha
Former Chief Security Officer to General Sani Abacha, Al-Mustapha’s political journey has been marked by controversy, including a lengthy imprisonment. His association with past military regimes and limited political experience may impede his electability on a national scale.

√ Nasir El-Rufai
Former Governor of Kaduna State, El-Rufai is known for his reformist stance and infrastructural initiatives. After an unsuccessful ministerial nomination in 2023 due to security concerns, he co-founded a venture capital firm to boost Northern Nigeria’s economy. His recent sojourn in the Social Democratic Party (SDP) leadership suggests a potential 2027 presidential bid. His technocratic reputation and governance experience could appeal to voters seeking pragmatic leadership.

Nasir El-rufai

√ Conclusion
As 2027 approaches, the political landscape will be shaped by these figures’ actions, party dynamics, and public sentiment. Their ability to build broad-based coalitions, address national issues effectively, and adapt to evolving voter expectations will be pivotal in determining their electoral success.
