THE WARRIOR
__________
This poem by Bashir Yahuza Malumfashi is a tribute to Magayaƙin Kano, Malam Magaji Galadima, as he today celebrates his birthday.

__________
Today we raise our voices high,
To honour a ruler,
Noble and wise.
A son of honour,
Beneath the sky,
Whose name in dignity
Shall never die.
MAGAJI GALADIMA,
A man of grace,
Whose noble deeds
Have marked their place.
With pen and truth,
You served the land,
A journalist of vision,
Firm in stand.
You sought the truth
And gave it voice,
With courage,
Wisdom
And a conscious choice.
Through words that informed
And enlightened all,
You answered duty
Whenever duty called.
An administrator,
Master of uncommon art,
With discipline.
With wisdom in your heart,
You lead with order,
Purpose and care.
You carriy your people’s hopes
With prayer.
In every task,
Your excellence shines,
A steady hand
When the road declines.
Upon the throne,
You stand with grace,
Wisdom and justice
Guide your place.
You listen
Before you make decree
And rule with heart,
With dignity.
Your people find in you
A guiding light,
A guardian of justice,
Peace and right.
An orator
Gifted with words divine,
Whose voice can make
A noble message shine.
You speak with wisdom,
Measured and clear
And give the people
Reasons to hear.
Your eloquence
Carries truth along,
Like a mighty drum
In a royal song.
Yet greatness lives
In the hands that give,
For those less fortunate
Whom you help to live.
The poor, the weak,
The downtrodden too,
Have found compassion
And kindness in you.
Your philanthropy
Speaks without a throne,
A ruler is greatest
When none feels alone.
And now we hail
The WARRIOR bold,
Whose mastery of horse
And ancient arms is told;
With courage forged.
Through strength
And skill,
You ride with grace
And commands with will.
Happy Birthday,
Magayaƙin Kano,
MAGAJI GALADIMA,
Our pride.
May Allah bless
Your reign
And keep you dignified.
May the birthday
Brings along
Long life, sound health,
Wisdom and many more years
To serve your people more.
