The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has condemned the brutal murder of Alhaji Isa Mohammed Bawa, the Sarkin Gobir of Sabon Birni, who was abducted and killed by bandits in Sokoto State.

According to reports, the traditional ruler and his son were kidnapped on August 18th, 2024, and a ransom was demanded. Despite efforts to meet the demands, the bandits tortured and murdered the Sarkin Gobir.
In a press release obtained by Taskar Gizago, ACF has expressed sadness and outrage over the incident, calling for thorough investigations and a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s national security architecture to combat banditry and terrorism effectively.
The forum extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, as well as to the Sokoto State Government, the Sokoto Sultanate Council, and the people of Sabon Birni Local Government Area.
The ACF urged calm and called on the government, security agencies, traditional rulers, and leaders of thought to work together to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
This incident highlights the growing concern of banditry and terrorism in Nigeria, with the ACF reiterating its demand for a thorough review of the country’s security approach to address the escalating problem.
