Tafawa Balewa, Sardauna And 15th January: A Day of Lamentation

•••••
This is an Open Letter to Malumfashi Citizens in particular, Katsina State Indegines and indeed to all concerned Nigerians

 •••••

For over a decade, we have endured unimaginable suffering. Boko Haram, bandits, kidnappers, and armed robbers have turned our once thriving communities into zones of fear and despair. Our children cannot go to school in peace. Our farmers cannot tend to their fields without fear of attack. Our women and girls live in constant danger. Our elders, who once lived with dignity, now face humiliation and displacement. This is not the life we were meant to live.

Despite the efforts of our leaders and security forces, the situation has defied all solutions. Promises have been made, yet the terror persists. We have been patient, but patience has its limits. We cannot continue to live as prisoners in our own land.

I say to you today: running away is not the solution. Abandoning our villages, towns, and ancestral lands will only deepen our crisis. It will not bring peace or security. Instead, it will embolden those who seek to destroy us. They thrive on our fear, our division, and our silence. Let us deny them this victory.

I call on ‘Yan Malumfashi, Katsinawa and all Nigerians to rise up and reclaim what is ours. Let us confront our shortcomings—our divisions, our reluctance to act, our dependence on others to solve our problems. Let us come together as one people, united by a common purpose: to protect our land, our families, and our future.

We must fight back. Whether alive or dead, we must reclaim our honor and dignity. Let us organize ourselves, strengthen our communities, and support our security forces. Let us share information, expose the enemies among us, and hold our leaders accountable. Let us revive the spirit of communal vigilance that once made our neighborhoods impenetrable.

Fear is the key to their bank accounts. Every ransom paid, every act of submission, only fuels their greed and strengthens their resolve. Let us starve them of this power. Let us stand firm and say, “enough is enough!” We will not be intimidated. We will not be silenced. We will not be defeated.

This is not just a fight for our land; it is a fight for our identity, our future, and our pride. Katsina, the land of warriors and scholars, will not be defeated. Nigeria, the giant of Africa, will not be brought to its knees by those who thrive on fear and division.

The time to act is now. Let us organize, resist, and reclaim what is ours. Let us show the world that we are a people of courage, resilience, and unity. Let us remember the words of our forebears: “A people united by purpose can never be conquered.”

To the youth of Malumfashi, Katsina, and Nigeria: this is your time to rise. You are the strength of this nation. Do not let fear paralyze you. Do not let despair consume you. Stand up, organize, and defend your future.

To our leaders: we call on you to act with urgency and sincerity. The people are watching. History will judge you.

To every Nigerian: this is our collective struggle. Let us put aside our differences and fight for the common good. Let us reclaim our honor, our land, and our future.
