Justice For Walida: A Call on Jigawa State Government to Take Urgent Action and Secure the Release of Walida Abdulhadi

We make a special appeal to the Government of Jigawa State to take urgent action and show full concern regarding the allegations against a DSS security operative, Ifeanyi, who allegedly abducted Walida Abdulhadi, forcibly converted her to Christianity and abused her without her consent or that of her parents.
This matter involves fundamental human rights guaranteed by the Constitution, particularly the rights to personal liberty, freedom of religion, dignity and the protection of citizens’ lives and security.
Therefore, we urge the government to ensure:
• A thorough, transparent, impartial and unbias investigation on the matter.
• Assurance of Walida Abdulhadi’s safety and protection of her dignity.
• Appropriate legal action against anyone found guilty, in accordance with the law.
• We believe that swift action will further demonstrate the government’s commitment to truth, justice and protection of citizens’ rights without discrimination.
• Protecting the rights of the girl child and human dignity is not merely an act of goodwill but a legal obligation.
• Government silence on this matter signals failure and an attitude of indifference toward safeguarding the dignity of its citizens.
• Consequently, we reiterate in a LOUD VOICE that the Jigawa State Government must respond to the public outcry over the plight of this young girl.
