…BUT WHERE IS IFEANYI?

We commend the Government of Jigawa State for securing the release of WALIDA ABDULHADI from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). This decisive action demonstrates responsiveness to public concern and respect for the voice of the people.
While we acknowledge this important step, recovery alone does not amount to justice. We therefore call for the immediate, transparent, and impartial investigation and prosecution of Officer Ifeanyi and any other individuals found to be directly or indirectly involved in the abduction, unlawful detention, maltreatment, and alleged forced religious conversion of WALIDA ABDULHADI.
No officer, regardless of rank or uniform, is above the law. The abuse of authority by security personnel represents not only a violation of individual rights but also a direct assault on the rule of law and constitutional order. Justice must not only be done—it must be seen to be done.
Prosecution through a competent court of law will restore public confidence in state institutions, affirm the supremacy of the law over personal power, protect the fundamental rights of citizens and serve as a clear deterrent to future misconduct, particularly among armed officials entrusted with public authority.
We urge the relevant authorities to act swiftly and decisively. Accountability is not optional; it is the cornerstone of democracy and human dignity. The protection of citizens’ rights must remain paramount. Anything short of full accountability risks emboldening impunity.
Justice for WALIDA ABDULHADI is justice to society.
