JAGORA:
Leader of the Masses
_____
This Poem by Bashir Yahuza Malumfashi is a Tribute to the Leader of the Masses – Jagoran Talakawa, Alhaji, Dr. Sule Lamido CON at 78
_____
Malam Sule Jagora,
Leader of the masses.
You are a torchbearer,
When the road was dark.
A compass
In the wilderness
Of uncertainty.
Malam Sule Jagora,
You walked
Where many feared to tread
With wisdom
As your lantern,
Courage as your staff
And turned the language of leadership
Into a living art.
Malam Sule Jagora,
You are a statesman
Carved from the stone of experience.
A politician
Whose reputation precedes his name.
Malam Sule Jagora,
You mastered
The chessboard of public affairs,
Yet never mistook
Power for personal possession.
For you,
The throne was never
A cushion for comfort
But a platform
From which the people must rise.
Sule Jagora,
Your generosity is a river
That asks no payment,
Flowing quietly
Towards the thirsty
And forgotten.
Sule Jagora,
You stretched
A helping hand
Where hardship had built walls,
And remembered the elderly
When others looked away.
Malam Sule Jagora,
You gave the poor
A reason to hope again,
For true greatness,
You taught us,
Is measured
By what we give.
When Nigeria called,
You answered with distinction,
And carried her voice
Beyond her borders.
As Minister of Foreign Affairs,
Malam Sule Jagora,
You stood upon the world stage,
With dignity in your steps
And wisdom in your words,
Guarding
The honour of the nation
You represented,
Proving that diplomacy
Can wear the face of patriotism.
Then came Jigawa,
Your land of trust
And expectation,
Placed twice beneath
The shelter of your leadership.
Sule Jagora,
You found a state
Yearning for transformation
And planted
The seeds of a new tomorrow,
From the dust of yesterday
Rose the architecture of progress.
A Jigawa
Moving from grass
To grace beneath
Your stewardship.
Malam Sule Jagora,
You opened
The gates of education
To brighter generations
And strengthened
The hands that cultivate
The soil.
Sule Jagora,
You brought healthcare
Closer to the
Doorsteps of the people
And carved roads
Where distance
Once stood like a wall.
Across the landscape,
Development
Left its footprints,
Like rain,
Awakening a thirsty earth
After a long drought.
But the true measure
Of a leader
Is not the height of his office.
It is the depth of his compassion
For the least among him.
Malam Sule Jagora,
You remembered the old,
The poor
And the vulnerable,
And offered social support
Where life
Had become a burden.
Sule Jagora,
You understood
That government
Must have a human face
And that the forgotten
Must never be forgotten.
In a season
When political loyalties
Can change with the wind,
Jagoran Talakawa,
You remained anchored
To your chosen political home.
Sule Jagora,
You did not cross
Every bridge merely
Because another road glittered,
Nor trade conviction
For the convenience
Of the moment.
Jagoran Talakawa,
Your consistency
Became a signature
Upon your political journey,
A testament
That principles
Can outlive political storms.
Patriot,
Progressive,
Architect of possibilities,
Malam Sule Jagora,
You have always
Looked beyond the horizon.
Malam Jagora,
You saw tomorrow
Hiding inside today’s struggle,
And called
Upon the people
To rise above despair.
Malam Sule Jagora,
Your vision is a seed
Planted in the soil of service,
Still flowering
Wherever hope finds a home.
Orator!
Jagoran Talakawa,
Your words
Can awaken a sleeping room,
And turn
A whisper of doubt
Into a trumpet of courage.
Ya Jagoran Talakawa,
You speak,
And minds begin
To travel
Beyond their limitations.
Ɗan Lamido Jagora,
You inspire,
And weary hearts
Remember how to dream.
Malam Sule Jagora,
Your voice
Has been both
Hammer and balm,
Breaking the walls of fear
And healing
The wounds of discouragement.
Jagoran Talakawa,
Now seventy-eight candles
Illuminate your journey,
Seventy-eight chapters
Written in the book of service.
The years
Have not merely passed over you,
They have carved
Wisdom into your character
And history into your name.
Jagoran Talakawa Sule,
May the years ahead
Bring you peace,
Strength
And enduring grace.
Alhaji Dr. Sule Lamido
Jagoran Talakawa,
True leader of the Masses,
May your legacy
Continue to shine!
