Governor Dikko Flags Off Construction, Expansion of 3-Kilometre Mashi Township Road

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON has flagged off the construction and expansion of a three-kilometre township road in Mashi, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving infrastructure and stimulating economic growth across the state.
The road project, located along the Katsina–Daura highway, is part of the Katsina State Urban Renewal Programme being implemented under the government’s “Building Your Future” agenda. The project will be executed by Mothercat Nigeria Limited under the supervision of the Katsina State Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Governor Radda described the project as a strategic investment that would improve traffic flow, enhance road safety, facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce and other goods to markets, reduce transportation costs, and boost commercial activities and economic development in Mashi and its neighbouring communities.
He reiterated that his administration would continue to prioritise projects that improve the quality of life of the people while laying a solid foundation for sustainable development across Katsina State.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Engr. Dr. Sani Magaji Ingawa, said the project reflected Governor Radda’s unwavering commitment to providing modern infrastructure that meets contemporary engineering standards.
According to him, the project will include modern drainage systems, pedestrian walkways, and solar-powered streetlights. He added that the ministry would closely monitor every stage of the project to ensure strict compliance with quality standards and specifications.
Also speaking, a representative of Mothercat Nigeria Limited expressed appreciation to the Katsina State Government for the confidence reposed in the company. He assured the government that the project would be executed in accordance with professional standards and completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Speaking on behalf of the Emir of Katsina, the District Head of Mani, who holds the traditional title of Durbin Katsina, commended Governor Radda for his continued investment in infrastructure development. He conveyed the Emir’s appreciation and goodwill, while urging the people of the area to give the contractor their full cooperation to ensure the successful execution of the project.
The Chairman of Mashi Local Government also noted that the project would significantly improve transportation and stimulate economic activities within the area. Similarly, the Chairman of Stakeholders in Mashi Local Government, Hon. Salisu Yusuf Majigiri, praised Governor Radda for what he described as fairness and equity in the distribution of development projects across the state, assuring him of the unwavering support of the people of Mashi.
In his concluding remarks, Governor Radda directed the contractor to maintain the highest standards of workmanship and ensure the timely completion of the project. He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue investing in infrastructure that would improve the living standards of the people of Katsina State.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by the Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahya Daura, members of the State Executive Council, legislators, traditional rulers, local government chairmen, political leaders, and other dignitaries.
