A New Dawn for Agricultural and Technological Education in Malumfashi/Kafur

Kafur/Malumfashi, Katsina State – In a major step toward advancing education and innovation in northern Nigeria, the Federal College of Agriculture and Technology, Nabanje, located in Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State, has officially inaugurated its Governing Board.
The inauguration ceremony, held yesterday, was graced by top government officials, including the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad, and Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Masari described the establishment of the college as a “historic milestone not only for Kafur and Malumfashi but for Katsina State and the entire nation.” He emphasized the institution’s potential to enhance access to quality education, foster agricultural innovation, and spur sustainable economic growth across the region.
The Federal College of Agriculture and Technology, Nabanje, was birthed through sustained advocacy and legislative collaboration. Alhaji Masari extended heartfelt appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for inclusive national development.
He also commended the vital legislative backing of the National Assembly, particularly Deputy Senate President Senator Barau I. Jibrin, and praised the contributions of Katsina State Governor, Dr. Umar Dikko Radda, for his steadfast commitment to the project.
“This is a collective achievement — let us preserve it, grow it, and build on its promise,” Masari urged, addressing stakeholders and community members present at the ceremony.
The newly inaugurated Governing Board of the college includes: Prof. Oluwagbemi Tai as Chairman, Dr. Muktar Habib as Provost, Engr. Dr. Abdussamad Umar Jibia and Prof. Inuwa Shehu Usman and Labiru Musa Ƙafur mni, as members.
Masari expressed confidence in the board’s capacity to steer the institution toward academic excellence and national relevance.
The college is expected to serve as a hub for agricultural education, research, and technology transfer, equipping future professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to transform Nigeria’s agricultural landscape.
Residents of Malumfashi, Kafur and surrounding communities welcomed the development with enthusiasm, viewing the institution as a timely intervention in tackling youth unemployment and enhancing rural livelihoods.
With its strategic vision and dedicated leadership, the Federal College of Agriculture and Technology, Nabanje, is set to play a pivotal role in the socio-economic transformation of Katsina State and beyond.
