The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, is on the verge of setting a historic milestone in the state regarding transportation. This is through the near completion of a modern mega motor park owned by the Katsina State Transport Authority (KTSTA).
In an interview with the General Manager of the Katsina State Transport Authority, Malam Haruna Musa Rugoji, he explained to our correspondent that the project began during the administration of former Governor Aminu Bello Masari. It is located on a large expanse along the Katsina–Kano road in Ɗanɗagoro area. He said so far, the entire park has been fenced and most of the structures have reached roofing level.

Our correspondent also spoke with the head of Muntasarab Construction Company, Engineer Muntari Sagir Malumfashi, who is handling the project. He emphasized the value and importance of this motor park. According to him:
“This motor park, once completed, will be the first of its kind in the whole of Nigeria. Before construction began, we toured different parts of the country in search of a model to guide us. But every motor park we visited fell short of what we intended to build. There is even a big park in Nasarawa State, but it cannot match the size, beauty, and quality of the KTSTA ultra modern motorpark.”

“Without doubt, when this motor park is completed, His Excellency Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda will have set a historic record, because this will be the first modern mega motor park in Nigeria.” said Engineer Muntari.
When asked why the project stalled, he replied: “You know government projects usually take time and require careful planning, not haste. As we speak, His Excellency Governor Dr. Dikko Umar Radda has concluded plans to complete this project, and he has already given the order for work to resume. By God’s will, work will soon continue, and we hope to finish everything by the end of this year, in sha Allah.”

Engineer Muntari praised the General Manager of KTSTA, Malam Haruna Musa Rugoji, describing him as an experienced man in the field of transport. “Malam Haruna is a man of honesty and integrity, who has brought progress to this agency. The Governor appreciates him, just as we also recognize his efforts in the transport sector,” he said.
While showing our correspondent around the construction site, Malam Haruna stressed the importance of the project. “Transportation is one of the pillars of social development. There is no aspect of life that is not linked to transport,” he said.

He further explained: “When we talk about agriculture and its development, transportation plays a role. Daily social activities like health care, education, businesses, and trades cannot succeed without effective transportation. Therefore, when the transport sector develops, it improves the quality of life for all. Completion of this mega motor park will provide jobs and boost development not only in Katsina State but across the nation.”
Our correspondent visited the site of the new park, which will serve as the headquarters of KTSTA. It is a large and expansive complex strategically located along the major highway leading into Katsina metropolis.
The motor park is well-structured and divided into functional sections. There is a vast parking lot that can accommodate a large number of vehicles. There is a fueling station owned by the agency, as well as a special automobile garage with workshops, mechanics’ offices, spare parts stores, and restrooms.

Inside the park, there is also a central mosque with ablution facilities and sufficient toilets for both men and women, to serve passengers and other users of the park. There is a dedicated restaurant section comprising several kitchens, staff offices, and a spacious dining hall for passengers, also with its own restrooms.
For security, a special section has been provided for law enforcement officers, including a fully equipped police station with offices, restrooms, and other facilities, as well as a unit for fire service officers.

Additionally, the park includes guest rooms where passengers can lodge safely at affordable rates. This will save travelers from having to enter the city in search of accommodation, especially visitors coming from distant places. There are also ample shops built for traders to sell essential items to passengers. Everything has been planned in an orderly and modern way.
The Secretary of KTSTA, Malam Ibrahim Ahmad, commended Governor Dikko Umar Radda for his commitment to completing the project. He also expressed satisfaction with the effective management of the agency under the leadership of its General Manager, Haruna Musa Rugoji.
